The method suitable for the trend of eco-friendly construction methods has been rapidly increasing worldwide.
Geocell has been established in 1975 by the US Corps of Engineers and PRESTO of geotxtiles manufacturer for the purpose of making emergency roads for military use. This technique has been preferred and increased rapidly worldwide as a suitable method for the trend.
Geocell is a honeycomb three-dimensional geosynthetic reinforcement material that is filled with a filling material in the unit cell.
It increases the tensile and binding strength that the soft ground does not have, therefore it can increase the pullout resistance and friction coefficient.
It uses the filling materials such as soil and gravel, not concrete and other artificial materials, and has stable characteristics. It is structurally durable and simple to construct that can reduce the air and cost.
Geocell soft ground reinforcement is consisted of soil (filling material) against external force, frictional resistance, passive resistance of neighboring cells and circular stress of cells.
It also has a high horizontal pitch, therefore it can make suppression effect on the groundwater level Increasing shearing strength and bearing power.
It is a method to cover slopes by laying plant material, stone filling, fluid concrete or mortar in the cell of honeycomb fiber material for civil engineering.
It can change the type of covering materials of flow velcocity and shorten the construction period by the simplicity of construction.

1.Reinforcement of rivers (waterways) and filling slopes
Geocell's high drainage capacity, friction and cell-soil-plant interactions prevent sliding slopes
and limit the effects of shearing stress.
Perforation of geocell sheet surface promotes horizontal drainage,
plant growth and root interlocking to stabilize slope and
soil further and increase vegetation rate.
2. Soft ground and road (rail) reinforcement
Since Geocell forms a high rigidity rigid foundation and minimizes displacement and
settlement by loads, it has been applied to reinforce roads, railroads, etc.
Compared to the general road design method, the gravel base thickness can be
reduced by about 50% or more and the long-term performance can be improved.
3. Retaining Walls and Earth Structures
It can withstand deformation of the ground without losing its structural prototype and
can be used as an unstructured whole body or vegetation by the flexibility of
the Geocell itself. It can take full advantage of the system since the construction
method is simple and efficient,
it can be used in the site with limited construction
conditions.
It can also finish various materials other than
vegetation.
4. Prevention of rock and scour
